In June the lockdown was lifted even more and most things were pretty much back to normal during the second half of the month.
That meant our spending went up again, but I think it was still pretty reasonable. Last month spent 45,306 baht.
This went up to 45,306 baht in May. Did it hit 50,000 this month? Read on to find out.
Accommodation
We still live at the same condo in Hua Hin, so if you want to see what it’s like, take a look at our Hua Hin Cost of Living April 2020 post. We usually clean the condo ourselves, but this month paid 400 baht for a deep clean.
Total accommodation cost: 10,400 baht
Utility Bills (Electricity, Water, Internet, Phone)
This month our electricity bill was 885 baht. This is lower than usual because I think we got some kind of discount due to the pandemic.
Water cost 180 baht.
Internet and multi-channel TV (AIS Play) is included in the rent.
Mobile phone cost was 763 baht.
Total utility bills cost: 1,828 baht
Food
We ate out almost every day this month, so our costs were pretty similar to last month’s.
I doubt this figure will change much while we’re in Hua Hin, as we usually eat in a few favorite places, so costs will always be similar.
It’s somewhere that we could probably save a lot of money if we ate at home.
Total food costs: 24,001 baht
Tea & Coffee
I’m surprised that our tea and coffee costs dropped around 17% this month. I think because we visited some cheaper cafes for a change.

Travel Expenses
We drove to Bangkok once this month, so that added extra travel costs this month. Total for petrol was 1,470 baht.
Car wash was 220 baht and hotel was 2,236 baht. This is much higher than the last two months, but a more realistic figure going forwards.
We stayed at Holiday Inn, Silom. We can highly recommend this hotel, especially right now with the reduced rates. Many hotels in Bangkok are currently closed.

Total travel costs: 3,926 baht
Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous costs this month included hair salon visits for my wife, clothes, supplements, laundry, a Kindle book and cat food for some stray cats. My wife also attended a funeral in Bangkok, which added to the costs.

Overview
So we spent a grand total of 53,457 baht, which is just around 18% more than last month’s spend of 45,306 baht. The big extra this month was traveling to Bangkok, staying at a nice hotel and attending a funeral. We’re pretty happy with the total though, as we used to spend around 80,000 a month in Bangkok.
Another way of looking at this is that we spent 1,790 baht per day on average. That’s around $58 a day for two of us,
