Holiday Inn, Silom, Bangkok – Review

With many hotels in Bangkok currently closed, we decided to give the Holiday Inn in Silom a try for the first time. With no international tourists allowed into the country, now is a great time to stay in some great hotels at much lower prices than usual.

We also got a free upgrade. The hotel seemed very empty, so it also felt very relaxing there.

When we booked this hotel, it was the lowest price I’ve ever seen for it.

We paid just 2,237 baht for a Deluxe Room with King Size Bed, but got upgraded to a Premier Room.

You could have comfortably fitted four people into the bed. It was massive. It made for a very comfortable night’s sleep. They also had a choice of soft and firm pillows, which was a nice touch.

The great thing about the Premier Rooms is that they have a full size office desk and chair, with a LAN connection for high speed internet.

There was also this very comfortable sofa next to the window, which was ideal for lounging around.

The one thing we didn’t like about the room though, was that it didn’t have a great view, as it faced onto the Jewelry Trade Centre. You could see Silom Road though if you looked out at an angle.

Despite being so close to the main road, it was incredibly quiet.

The room at tea and coffee making facilities, with free tea and coffee supplies in the cupboard. The cupboard also had a small fridge. Free water was also provided.

There was a big wardrobe that had plenty of hangers, as well as an ironing board, iron and large safety deposit box.

The bathroom was very spacious, and included a large shower cubicle, as well as a full-size bath.

The wifi worked perfectly, even with four devices connected. When I tested the speed it showed at 80 Mbps download and 94 Mbps upload. Fantastic. It’s rare to get a hotel with such great wifi.

We booked a room without breakfast, as the food prices seem pretty expensive. On the breakfast menu in the room, it showed a cup of coffee at 175 baht. The other prices were all very high. There are plenty of great places to eat all around the hotel, and at much cheaper prices.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and we’d definitely come back if we could stay at these prices. It’s a real bargain, given the quality of the hotel.
