If you’re visiting the Petaling Street market in Chinatown, this Buddhist vegetarian restaurant is a great place to have either lunch or dinner. Wan Fo Yuan has been open since the 1980s and is a real old-school restaurant.
While this is a vegetarian restaurant, most of the dishes are suitable for vegans. The staff speak some English so just ask for their help if you have any special dietary requirements.
There is a huge selection of dishes that are displayed in a photo album, so just look through and choose the dishes you want. I opted for the Chili Fish, which I was told was spicy. I was a little spicy, but after living in Bangkok for many years it didn’t seem anywhere near as spicy as Thai food. This dish cost 17 MYR, which is just over $4, so very reasonably priced.
They only bad point I’d say about the restaurant is that it’s pretty hot and humid inside. They don’t have aircon, so make sure you sit near a fan.
