Singapore is one of my favorite cities in Asia and I like to visit at least once a year. Here’s an overview of my recent visit.
Getting To Singapore
Most people would probably get to Singapore by just booking a return flight, but this time I wanted more of an adventure. So what did I do? I got a train from Bangkok to Singapore, which allowed me to also spend a few days in Kuala Lumpur on the way.

Where To Stay In Singapore
While in Singapore I stayed at the excellent Parc Sovereign Hotel in the Bugis area. It’s only around 100 meters from Rochor MRT, so very easy to get to by public transport.

Things To Do In Singapore
See Merlion at Marina Bay
The Merlion is the official mascot of Singapore and thousands of people visit it in Marina Bay every day. Marina Bay is the best known area of the city and is a great place to spend some time.
Gardens By The Bay
Gardens by the Bay is also located at Marina Bay, right behind Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
Walk To Marina Bay
I love walking, and Singpore is a great city for walking. The sidewalks are very wide and everything is very clean. I walked from Bugis to Marina Bay, including a detour around Singapore River, and then all the way around Marina Bay to Gardens by the Bay.
The walk also takes you through two parks and passed some very interesting archtecture.
The Markets
There are always markets in the Bugis area of the city. This time I visited just before Chinese New Year, so the market was more interesting than usual.
Getting Home From Singapore
For my journey back to Bangkok I opted to fly with Scoot. They’re a great airline that I’ve used in the past. See Singapore To Bangkok with Scoot.
One good thing about getting a flight home is that you get to see the Jewel at Changi Airport.
